Day 20

On the road again. We said goodbye to New Orleans around 8:00 am. Heading, what else, east. We escaped New Orleans fairly unscathed. Sure had a good time in the Quarter.  Laissez les bons temps rouler.
We are headed to Florida for spring break. Party time. I'm not sure the folks can handle all this fun.
Didn't take long before we were in Mississippi. Went thru Biloxi and the next thing I knew we were in Alabama. The home of Forrest Gump.
Next stop Florida. So that is four states that we went thru in one day. Hoorah!!!!!
A total of 340 miles, Dad's getting 12.9 mpg and diesel prices are staying around $3.70 per gallon.
Pensacola Florida is the home of The Blue Angels.  They have replicas of the planes everywhere. Pretty cool.
It was a nice ride. Lots of greenery and we crossed over a lot of bridges.
We got to Panama City Beach around 3:00 pm and were promptly met by Mike and Brenda. They are some old (and by old I mean longtime) Coast Guard buddies from when they were stationed in  North Carolina in the 80's. Maybe I do mean old after all. We all went to dinner down at the beach with all the college kids. We fit right in.
It really is nice here. We are staying at a RLB park that belongs to the Navy. Really nice place and we get to be here until Monday morning.  Hopefully I can get a tan.
