We went through Erick, OK (which was not named after Dad) and is the hometown of Roger Miller, who is the original King of the Road.
We then entered the Texas panhandle. The scenery was not much better than Oklahoma. Lots of prairies and open spaces with a few tumbleweeds thrown in for effect. Their motto here is " Don't Mess With Texas".
We were going to stop in Tucumcari, NM for the night but somewhere along the way we found one of those hours we lost on the way out so Dad decided to keep going to Santa Rosa, NM. We also got to drive on Historic Route 66. Before the interstate this was a popular highway that people took from Chicago to Los Angeles. Lots of old shops and hotels that were around in the 60's. Like Mom says "back in the good old days". Dad says maybe we will do the Route 66 trip someday. Oh boy!
So here we are in Santa Rosa, NM and as of right now we aren't sure which way we are headed tomorrow.
I guess I'll just have to wait till morning to find out what adventure they will drag me on.
