Yesterday was quite a day. We got to Busch Stadium for the Cardinal game early so we could walk around the ballpark. Great ballpark. Even the grass on the ball field had the Arch cut into it. The fans here love their Cardinals, I've never seen so much red in one place. Mom fit right in with her new Cardinal jersey and Dad wore his new hat. I however stuck out like a sore thumb in all black.
The weather for the game was 80 degrees and sunny and we had great seats. Put that with the fact that the Cardinals won 7-3 and it made for a perfect day. Dad managed to find a special St. Louis treat a hot dog wrapped in bacon. As if the hot dog isn't bad enough for you. The man must have an iron stomach.
So after our perfect baseball day we headed home on the Metro and that is when all H E double hockey sticks broke loose. While we were on the train it started raining like crazy and dropping golf ball size hail. By the time we got to the Air Force base it was still going strong and shortly after we got back to the RLB the tornado siren went off and then security came around and told everyone to evacuate and take shelter in the camp bathroom.
That didn't sit well with Dad so we packed our important stuff (like my food and Mom grabbed some pictures) and followed our camp neighbor to the Security Forces building. We had to hang out there for about three hours while waiting for the tornado threat to pass. It wouldn't have been so bad except the neighbor guy brought his dog. I mean this is supposed to be a safe haven isn't it? The security guys were hanging out with their M-16 rifles so I guess they could have shot him if he caused me any trouble.
Once we got released we went back to the RLB and fortunately we didn't have any damage (some of our neighbors weren't so luck). I was exhausted but during the night we had severe thunderstorms with lightning and really loud thunder. I was happy to see daylight and even happier to see Dad hooking up the trailer so we could get underway.
