Day 36

Those trouble making camp hosts showed up again this morning to see us off. I would have given them heck but there were three of them and only one of me. One of them even went after Mom when she tried to document the harrassment with her camera. So we hightailed it out of camp around 9:30 am before I really got riled up and gave them what for.
Squire Olson (that's what Dad has requested that Mom and I call him now) drove from Tullahoma, Tn to Memphis, Tn. It was about 265 miles. We went Hwy 64  instead of I 40. It took a little longer but was a nicer drive than the interstate. We saw horses and llamas and cows, OH MY.  Probably would have gotten better mileage on the interstate too but we will have to settle for the 10.6 mpg that we got.
Hwy 64 went through some very interesting and historic towns.  We went through Winchester, Tn. which is the birthplace of Dinah Shore. It felt kind of right because we were seeing the USA only in a Ford not in a Chevrolet.
Then we went through Adamsville, Tn. which is the home of Sheriff Buford Pusser of Walking Tall fame.  They have the main street named after him and a museum just for him. It was all Mom could do to keep Dad
( I mean Squire Olson) from stopping to read everything.
Now we are in Memphis, Tn. which is where Elvis Presley lived at Graceland.
It is suppose to get a little windy tonight so we will have to batten down the hatches. Another long drive ahead of us tomorrow.
