Today turned out to be a real nice day here in Tennessee. I did a little walkabout the campground with Mom and then we headed into Lynchburg, Tennessee. The weather was beautiful. Sunny and 70 degrees.
Uncle Gordon and Aunt Sue drove down from Tennga, Ga. to meet us.
First we went to Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House Restaurant for an early lunch. This place has been in business for over 100 years. It's not a boarding house anymore but they still serve food family style. That means we sat at a table with a bunch of people we didn't know and a hostess who told stories about back in the old days. The people were real nice and the food was good . Lots of southern cooking. Fried Chicken, okra ( I didn't try that but Dad said it was the best he ever tasted, although to my knowledge he doesn't get that too often in Astoria), biscuits, taters and a bunch of other stuff. Good stuff but no cat food.
After eating we waddled over to see a friend of Dad and Uncle Gordon's. His name is Jack Daniels. We went on a tour of his place. There was some funny smelling stuff in big barrels all over the place but we couldn't taste it because this is a dry county. I guess that means it wasn't raining.
This Jack Daniels guy must be pretty important because he made Dad and Uncle Gordon Tennessee Squires and even deeded them some property. I don't think we can build on it though, it's pretty small.
We had to say goodbye to Uncle Gordon and Aunt Sue. I will miss them.
Last night the campground hosts came by and I hope they will come back tonight. I'm feeling a little frisky and I think I can take them.
