Yesterday it was in the 80's with lots of sunshine and today we were under a storm watch.
Rough night last night. Between the wind blowing and the bird singing (and I use that word very loosely) I got very little sleep. You would have thought the wind would have blown that darn bird out of the tree.
We got up this morning to a thunderstorm/tornado watch. It was 75 degrees at 9:00 in the morning and very humid. Dad made the decision to meet it head on so we got underway at 9:30 and headed west right into the storm. I'm not sure what made me more nervous, the monsoon like rain, the lightning, the deafening thunder, the big rigs flying past us or Mom praying. It was a pretty nerve racking two hours but at least we didn't meet a tornado.
We drove 320 miles today and with all the wind Dad only got 10 mpg. He wasn't real happy about that but I am just happy we survived the drive.
I can't say that Arkansas is one of my favorite states that we have been through. That could have something
to do with the crummy weather and the lousy roads.
Dad just got back from trying to find some propane for the RLB. No luck, he said even Hooters didn't have any. I guess they usually carry that.
We are staying at Fort Chaffee Army National Guard Base on the Arkansas border. Nice place but the wind is really blowing . Hopefully this will all be over tomorrow.
