I think maybe Dad was a little wacky after paying an all time high for diesel, $4.29, because when we got underway he kept telling us what great mpg he was getting. He said he was getting 22 mpg and then it went up to 23mpg. Mom was a bit sceptical to put it mildly. It kept going up but when it reached 27 mpg he finally realized he was reading the milage not the mpg. He wasn't near as happy after that. Of course Mom was her usual understanding self and laughed her head off. Turns out we drove 230 miles and actually got 11.6 mpg. When we got to Kingman we headed up Hwy 93 to the Hoover Dam. The wind was really blowing and there were high wind warnings all along the way. So by the time we got to the new bridge that bypasses the dam Mom was was a nervous wreck. Dad was his usual understanding self and laughed his a-- off.
This bridge is called the Mike O'Callaghan/Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and it was just opened in October of 2010. It is really something to see. It is 890 feet above the Colorado River. Well the wind turned out not to be a problem while driving over it so Dad thought we should walk over it. We had to go through a security check where they went inside the RLB to make sure we weren't terroists and then we were allowed to walk across the bridge while praying the whole time that the wind would not blow us off. It was a little scary to say the least.
Well we survived that and now here we are in Nevada at Nellis AFB. Tomorrow we are going to THE STRIP. I don't know how much I'll be able to tell you about it tomorrow because "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". Don't blame me that's the law.

Hi Weezie,
ReplyDeleteThe sky is blue for you. It seems like you spend a lot of time looking down from thousands of feet but I guess that’s what you do when you are living high. Is it a coincidence that they are having a WSOP event at Ceasars Palace on the 14th of April? Make sure your chauffeurs use an alias for tax purposes. All the expenses cat litter, fuel, food etc. will be forgotten when you finish counting your chips back at the RLB. Maybe your chauffeurs will finally buy you a lobster dinner for bring them good luck.
Chow for now,
Rmona
You're braver than we are. We are spending an extra day in Durango due to high winds. Your pictures of Hoover Dam were great - it is on our list for the way home so we should be there in 2-3 weeks.
