Day Six / NW Trip

This morning before we left Clarkston Mom let me sit outside in my Fun House. The weather was so nice and I wanted to get a little color. So once again we were a little late getting underway.
We left Clarkston ( the Gateway to Hells Canyon ) around 11:00 am.
Dad really didn't have a plan for today just that we were heading west. Originally we were going somewhere around Yakama but Dad saw a sign for Kennewick, Wa and headed there just to stop for lunch, he said.
Well we stopped for lunch on Clover Island. It's right on the Columbia River and incidentally right across from a Coast Guard Station. He went over there after lunch and next thing you know we are setting up camp in thier parking lot. Nice place really and we have it all to ourselves. He used to bring his ship here when he was in the CG so I think he is going down memory lane. Hey tonight he's taking us for Mexican food so it's okay with me and Mom.
We only ended up driving 130 miles and got 11.2 mpg. Diesel here is pretty high. Thank goodness for Fred Meyers cause with our 10 cent discount it only cost us $4.15 a gallon.
It's 84 degrees and sunny. Maybe I'll be able to work on that tan some more.
