Day 14

As a disclaimer I must tell you that some of the places that we stay at don't let cats use thier wifi, so I may be a little late with my postings from time to time.

Today began on a good note. The folks were up early and we were underway by 8:00 am. Apparently
the only thing on the radio at that time of the morning is " The Cowboy Corner ". I should have known then that the day was headed downhill.
Not a lot to see while crossing the plains of Texas. Maybe a cow here and there but mostly open spaces and more flattop mountains. However there was more greenery today than yesterday.  We did cross The Pecos River but it looked more like The Pecos Creek.
We arrived at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas around 2:00 pm. For once we could get set up early and have a relaxing afternoon. Not to be. When we parked the RLB we heard a loud piercing wail coming from inside. Panic ensued. Turns out a water jug overturned and got the Propane gas alarm sensor wet (along with a few other things). Mom started wiping up water and Dad tried everything to make the ear piercing noise stop. He finally had to cut a wire to get it stopped. As if that wasn't bad enough Mom's prescription sunglasses broke. That tipped her over the edge and she cried (Dad laughed ). All in all we have had better days.
We are going to stay another day here in San Antonio so we can go see The Alamo and the Riverwalk. Hopefully it will be a better day.
We drove 315 miles today. Lots of headwind and hills so Dad was only getting 11.1 mpg. But we are halfway across Texas so we end on a positive note.
