This morning Dad took me for a walk. It was great fun as you can tell by the pictures. That’s Dad wearing his RLB driving outfit. This was a nice RV park even with all the Cottonwood trees dropping their cottonwood fluff all over us.
We got underway a little late today () probably due to my lengthy stroll. First stop was just past Pendleton, Or ( now that is cowboy country). Dad paid $4.19 a gallon for diesel which is not too bad considering our last trip.
Today we crossed the Blue Mountains ( they looked green to me but hey I’m just a cat). It was 4200 feet at the summit, which might account for
11.2 mpg we were getting. We also crossed the 45th Parallel, which is the line halfway between the Equator and the North Pole.
From there we drove through Historical Baker City . I don’t know what makes it historical probably just because it is old. Does that make Mom historical? Maybe hysterical?
Anyway after Baker City we went into Hells Canyon . Possibly an appropriate name. We went to the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center , which is where they have lots of info on the emigrants who came to Oregon from the east. They had life size figures of the people and animals who came across the Oregon Trail . Mom and I went back to the RLB after awhile and took a nap while Dad read everything. Possibly a mistake because that just gave “Chatty Cathy” more stuff to talk about. This is going to be a very long trip.
We drove a total of 200 miles today and dropped anchor near Huntington , Or. It is right along side of the Snake River . The RV park was called the Oasis. Only $20 a day for all the flying bugs you’ll ever need. You know…. Nature really is dirty. No internet, poor cell service and bad television reception. Not sure about the Oasis part. Dad is down one game of Scrabble so far. We better get TV soon cause we all know what a gracious winner Mom is!
Tomorrow Idaho !
