We drove into Colorado Springs and after a short stop at Camping World ( Dads new favorite store) we went to check out Old Colorado City. The name was changed from El Dorado back in 1859 and it was the first town in the Pikes Peak region. It has changed a lot since then, now it has about 100 shops for the tourists. Mom was thrilled. Dad was not.

We then drove through an area called the Garden of Gods. It has spectacular red rock formations and great views of Pikes Peak. It has eight miles of trails to hike on but the folks decided to drive through it. THANK GOODNESS. My little paws would have been so tired.
Dad got fuel for $3.89 a gallon and what with the temperature at 62 degrees and lots of sunshine it really was a great day.
Colorado in spanish means "the color red" and with all the red rocks around here I can see why they named it that. It really is a beautiful state.
Well gotta go, it's marshmallow roasting time.
