Day 43 / Spring Road Trip 2012

Underway today at 0830. We are headed west. Homeward bound.
We hit four states today. Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.  Indiana is the only one I hadn't been in yet so the RLB only gets one state sticker.

FYI: the roads in Michigan suck. As soon as we hit the Ohio border they got much better. Of course we also had to start paying a toll. Same for Indiana and Illinois. Dad was not thrilled.
Not much I can say about Indiana, the Hoosier State. It looked a lot like Ohio. Not sure what a Hoosier is, we certainly didn't see anything that looked like it could be one. Mom entertained (?) us by singing the song "Gary, Indiana" all through our drive today. Please make her stop!
We arrived at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, which is about an hour north of Chicago, around 1400. Somewhere along the way we found one of those hours we lost. Strange how that happens.
Chicago was hot (around 90 degrees) when we drove through but we are staying right next to Lake Michigan so it is 10 to 15 degrees cooler here. Thank goodness.
